    Description

Next week [I] shall begin my operations on my hat, on which you know my principal hopes of happiness depend."
    Jane Austen to Cassandra
    October 27, 1798
What could be more iconic of Jane Austen's era than a lovely wide brimmed straw sun bonnet?! This brand new style is based on the period bonnet seen in the image at right from the Kyoto Institute (dated 1790-1815) It reminded me of this portrait of Mme. Seriziat, 1795 as well as this fashion plate "A Peep into Kensington Gardens" from The Gallery of Fashion(Morning Dress, June 1794.) I've included some of my own images of the bonnet trimmed up as well.
This plain bonnet will be perfect for trimming to match any gown you choose! There are so many ways to dress up this adorable bonnet! It's quite addicting!
This listing is for the plain bonnet, as shown in the first image. If you would like a trimmed version, feel free to contact me about custom colors and trimmings. I'm always happy to try something new. Search online for Austentation: Regency Accessories to see my full line of products shipped from my smoke free home.
I have several hats and bonnets available, so check out my other listings! If you would like to combine your orders, I will refund any extra shipping that you have paid. The same applies for multiples of the same item.
