I am very pleased to offer this exceptional Hösig Di WOUNAAN Darien Rainforest native-made basket from Panama. This is an amazingly intricate small size (about 3.25" tall and about 4.5" wide with a mouth opening of 2.25"), tightly and masterfully woven museum-quality basket featuring geometric designs. Made in the latter part of the twentieth century, this is a fine example of native weaving from the Woonaan tribe of Panama's Darien rainforest, considered to be the best basket weavers in the world. These baskets are made from tiny threads of the chunga palm and are "sewn" with a needle. The intricate designs are unique and a basket can take months to finish. The colors are made from natural plant and mineral dyes. This basket is in excellent condition with no damage of any kind and incredibly tight.
